Water Soluble Calcium Phosphate (WCP)

Water soluble calcium phosphate is extracted from the bones of vertebrate animals. WCP is essential for plant growth, and is widely distributed in soil. Calcium phosphate is insoluble in water but soluble in acids. This property is used in KNF. Calcium phosphate is also slightly soluble in water containing CO2.

 

How to make WPC

Tools and Materials:

Container (clay or glass jar)

Porous paper or cloth

Rubber band

Bones

Brown Rice Vinegar (preferable but other vinegars will work, try to avoid white vinegar)

 

Method:

The optimum ambient temperature range for the process is from 23-25 degrees celsius.

Process should be done in a cool shaded space out of direct sunlight.

Boil bones thoroughly to remove all meat and cartilage.

Turn the bone to charcoal buy cooking over a low heat open flame so as to remove all remaining organic substances. Note: A properly charcoaled bone will be black not white like ash which indicates that the they have been overdone or yellowish which indicates a presence of organic matter.

Use the bones as they are or break them into manageable pieces, but do not crush to powder.

Place bones into container and fill with vinegar at a ratio of 1/10 respectively.

Bubbles will begin to form as the calcium is dissolved from the bones. The process is complete when no more bubbles are visible or 7 days.

 

How to Use WCP

Use after diluting with water. Basic dilution ratio is 1/1,000.

Use as drinking water for livestock that are pregnant or ovulating. (dilution 1/1,000)

Spray on leaves during the crossover period from vegetative growth to reproductive growth.

Use when crops over grow, when weather conditions are bad, when initial growth is slow or stunted, and if flower buds have weak differentiation.
